Groups are one of the first things you'll set up in Amplify People. Use groups to organize your ministry into meaningful lists—such as membership status, classes, ministry teams, grades, contact lists, and services.
Create a Group
- In the left sidebar, select Groups, then select List.
Note: This label may differ if your organization customized it in Settings> Terminology.
- Click the + Add Group button at the top.
-
Enter a Group Name. Name the group based on its function or purpose—for example: Directory, Members, or Members—Moved Away.
Pro Tip: Keep group names concise. The system allows up to 100 characters, but shorter names produce more reliable report output.
- Upload a Group Image to represent your group (optional).
- Assign a Group Leader (optional).
- Enter a brief Description (optional)—for example: Women's Wednesday Morning Bible Study.
- Enter Address information (optional). This address displays in the Group Finder.
- Toggle on Group Meet Time and set a day and time (optional). The meeting day and time control when the group appears in Check-In and the Group Finder.
- Expand Properties and Settings, then use the Properties Search field to assign Group Properties (optional).
- What are Group Properties? Group Properties are tags you assign to groups—such as age group, gathering type, or event type. Use them to filter groups for viewing, reporting, and mass communication. You can also save filtered views as Group Views for repeated use. Learn more about Group Properties.
- Click Save to finish creating the group.
Pro Tip: Plan a group-naming scheme that aligns with your group types and ministry goals. A consistent naming structure makes it easier to organize and find groups over time. To get started, see 7 Group Types Every Church Should Use.
