Group Properties let you categorize (or tag) your groups, making it significantly easier to filter and manage your database. Properties can be mass-assigned and are especially powerful when combined into Group Views for filtering, mass communication, and reporting.
Properties and Property Categories
Each Property Category will have multiple Properties. Here's an example of some Property Categories (in bold) and Properties (in italics) that may be helpful for you.
-
Age Group
- Children
- Youth
- Adults
- Seniors
-
Small Group Type
- Community
- Growth
- Outreach
- Recovery
-
Small Group Region
- North
- South
- East
- West
- Central
It often makes sense for a group to have more than one property assigned. For example, you could have a small group with these properties: Adults, Community, and North. Properties are meant to give you more context for your groups.
Tip: Because the database is flexible in this area, consider planning the tag options you may need for reporting or group management. You can always add or edit properties as you go.
Add and Manage Group Properties
- Click the Gear icon and choose Settings.
- Click the Groups tab.
-
Click Group Properties.

Note: Your ChMS includes a few Group Properties set up by default. You can edit these to meet your needs and add more as needed. There is no limit on how many you can create.
