Note: These instructions are specifically for Brother printers connected to your check-in station machine wirelessly. These instructions are different for other printer types and connection types.
Prerequisites
- The initial setup will require a physical USB connection to your computer. The wireless printer CANNOT be set up wirelessly or using an iPad.
- You will also need to consult local network resources for firewall protocols and/or setting up a static IP address for your printer. A static IP address for your printer will provide the best results.
- The label that comes with many Brother printers, Type DK-2251, is NOT supported. Please only use Type DK-2205.
- To obtain the correct printer drivers, visit Brother’s support site at support.brother.com and click on Downloads. Search by model name, then download and install it on your local machine.
- Ensure that you select 'Wireless Network Connection' as the connection type and 'Peer-to-Peer' as the connection method during the driver installation.
- Ensure that your computer is connected to the wireless network to which you will connect the printer, as the computer shares its network settings with the printer during the setup process.
Configure your Wireless Brother Printer with your Computer
For Windows:
-
- Access the Control Panel, then select Devices and Printers. Find the active Brother printer, right-click on it, and then access Printer properties.
- In the Preferences area, select the 2.4” by 3.9” paper size and ensure that the orientation is set to Landscape. Then, click OK.
- Access the Advanced tab and select Printing Defaults… Select the 2.4” by 3.9” paper size again and ensure the orientation is set to Landscape. Then, click OK.
- Return to the General tab and click Print Test Page.
For iOS (Apple):
-
- The printer should be viewable once the USB step of the printer setup is complete.
- The printer will be connected via WiFi, not Bluetooth, so ensure that Bluetooth is disabled for the iPad.
- Download the "Brother iPrint&Scan" App to perform a test label print.
Configure your Check-In Station Settings
- Click the header Gear Icon
, select Settings, then select the Check-In tab.
- Expand the Check-In Stations tab.
- Select the station you wish to edit.
- Scroll down to the Label Options section.
- Expand the drop-down for Label Printer Model and select the Brother printer series.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
Note: Once you have completed the setup, we recommend running a test check-in session to ensure the printer is working correctly.
Wireless Label Printer Test Tips:
- If you're using the browser-based Kiosk version of Check-In, ensure that only one instance of the Java Printer Application is running on your machine.
- If you use the iOS Check-In application, ensure that the app is set to access the local network in your iOS settings.
